Lego Movie: The Game Review

Fun adaptation of the equally interesting humor-packed movie!

The biggest difference between The Movie Lego and other games TT Games is the design, peliculero and perhaps much more range with less freedom than in other licenses, the “screens” or scenarios this time take less time. In all, some 15 chapters with less than ten hours of play. That does not mean that the open areas and the use of vehicles disappear, because at different times we can use them to move, for example, in the city that opens the game, a great recreation of a city entirely created with plastic parts. And unlike other releases of Lego, which occasionally appeared outside decorated figures -transmission manufacturer, rocks, water, etc. this game and film are the best tribute to the Swiss brand, featuring items in a much more realistic manner that is, as if he were actually created with the figures-. In fact, production for the big screen uses some animation to simulate fluid animation stop motion , a trick we’ve seen recently in Tearaway with great success, and the use of textures of dirt, grease and scratches on plastic parts, imperfections that they are not present in the game; a shame because it would have taken a new look to this section.

We played a version for the new-namely, PlayStation 4 and looks great, but there is a huge gap between generations beyond the resolution, effects and sound. You’ll probably go for the one you probably go -or PC- console, type of experience will be very similar. However, if you have an opportunity to choose platforms, graphics extras should decant your purchase.

Lego The Movie looks at many themed atmospheres rather than covering a single type of location, which is what happened in most licenses, and that makes it one of the games of Lego more varied in terms of type of architecture. As subliminal review of the toy catalog is priceless.Through holes between dimensions we will pass in a flash of a current to the Wild West town, the seabed or laboratories of science fiction, to name a few chapters. So, as expected, a visual style is the star of the graphics and for those who have not seen the film will be a surprise to see where pass the steps of adventure. We note, though, that completely guts the original screenplay, turns and cameos -Warner Bros. has not missed the opportunity to exploit their most iconic DC characters Comics-, it may be preferable to see before non-interactive medium.

Music is sugarcane, and has the catchy song “Everything is Awesome” Emmett sings and dances in a short musical minigame. The drawback we found is that sometimes the sin of wanting to sound too protagonist, a defect derived from the film or film style, as it tries to give an exaggerated what actually see on the screen excitement.

Final Thoughts

Lego The Movie is not the game of the all rounder we’ve seen saga and maintains some of the typical problems or limitations from the beginning, as those sections jump a little confused by the camera still. There are stretches especially towards the end- which suggest that there was a rush to finish the product on the date marked either by the presence of some bug or the uneven quality of the chapters. But has a few points in its favor: it is a completely new story that does not depend on your appreciation of the charism of existing characters, it is the most authentic Lego created to date thanks to the large number of self-parody game, and few surprises from the gameplay work well. Considering the level of adaptations from the cinema, TT Games has passed with flying colors.

Highly recommended for young audiences and any fan of the series.

As far as I can remember, I've been surrounded by technology. My father bought us a Commodore 64 so I started playing games as a baby, following my passion with Amiga 500, then PC and so on. I love game related collectibles, and when I'm not collecting I review games, watch movies and TV Shows or you may catch me keeping a low profile at Game Events.
