Masakazu Hirayama, producer of the upcoming Ninja Gaiden 4, states that Team Ninja is intentionally swimming against the popular Soulslike current. In an interview with GamesRadar, Hirayama emphasized that Ninja Gaiden 4 returns to the classic, high-speed, action-focused gameplay that originally defined the series—going against the slower, methodical combat that’s become dominant thanks to Soulslike games.
Fast-paced combat: Traditional Ninja Gaiden speed and responsiveness.
New Protagonist: Yakumo, a ninja prodigy connected to legendary hero Ryu Hayabusa.
Collaborative Development: Co-developed by Team Ninja (Nioh) and PlatinumGames (Bayonetta), promising a spectacular, action-packed experience.
Hirayama confidently states:
“When you pick up the controller, you’ll instantly recognize this evolution—it’s unmistakably Ninja Gaiden.”
Launch Date: October 21, 2025
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
