Just over a week after its launch, Hangar 13 has announced that Mafia: The Old Country will soon receive a Free Roam mode completely free of charge, as a thank-you to the community for the warm reception of the game.
The title, released on August 8 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, marked a return to the saga’s roots, offering a linear, story-driven campaign that dives into the origins of organized crime in early 20th-century Sicily.
The new Free Roam mode will let players explore Sicily at their own pace beyond the main story missions. Players will be able to:
Wander the streets of Sicily freely.
Search for hidden collectibles.
Take part in new activities and side content, which Hangar 13 promises to reveal in the coming weeks.
This addition expands the game’s replayability, giving fans more reasons to return to the atmospheric setting after finishing the campaign.
At Vandal, we’ve already reviewed Mafia: The Old Country, calling it “just what the franchise needed to regain the trust of fans: a game without great pretensions, focused solely on returning to what they do best.”
With the announcement of Free Roam and more content on the way, Hangar 13 is showing its commitment to keeping the experience alive beyond the campaign, while staying true to the classic Mafia style that fans have been asking for.
