gamescom award 2026 handed out its trophies on Friday, August 28, at the gamescom studio in Cologne. The official winners post is up. CD PROJEKT RED and SEGA each took three. Capcom and Ubisoft each took two. That is the night in a sentence, before the categories start arguing with each other.

I am not walking nineteen plaques like a checklist. The big publishers carried the room. The Witcher 3 remaster and Songs of the Past did the loudest work for CDPR. SEGA’s lineup and two of its show pieces did the same. Capcom’s Onimusha: Way of the Sword cut cleanly. The Songs of the Past teaser from The Witcher’s own channel is the trailer I am embedding.

CDPR, SEGA, Capcom, Ubisoft

CD PROJEKT RED won Best Trailer / Announcement for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered and Songs of the Past DLC, Best Merch for the Songs of the Past pin and medallion, and the Jury Award for Best Booth for Songs of the Past. SEGA won Best Audio for Alien: Isolation 2, Best PC Game for Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000, and the Jury Award for Best Lineup. Capcom took Best Gameplay and Best Sony PlayStation Game for Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Ubisoft took Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game for Rayman Legends Retold and the Jury Award for Best Business Booth.

Xbox, Visuals, and the Heart of the Floor

Best Microsoft Xbox Game went to Forza Horizon 6 from Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios. Best Visuals went to METRO 2039 from 4A Games and Deep Silver. The HEART OF GAMING Award, the special jury prize, went to Games Done Quick. gamescom GDQ ran August 28 to 30. Proceeds are pointed at Gaming for Democracy. That is the charity line the awards post actually prints.

The winners list I used is the gamescom award 2026 winners post. Watch @Xbox and @witchergame if you want the booth follow-ups, not a recap. Cologne closed the plaques. September still has to ship the games those trophies were pointing at.
