The Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller went up for pre-order on August 12 at participating retailers worldwide, including Xbox.com and Microsoft Store. It is $89.99. I checked Xbox’s own post. That dollar figure is printed in USD, not a conversion I ran through a currency widget.

The game itself still launches October 6, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, cloud, Xbox Play Anywhere, and Steam. Day one on Game Pass Ultimate. Collector’s Edition and Premium early access start October 1. The controller ships September 30, which is the date that actually matters if you want the hardware in your hands before Emergence Day.

Cracked Asphalt, a Glowing E-Hole, Never Fight Alone

Xbox built this one like an E-hole erupted through the plastic. 3D molded, laser-etched cracked asphalt. Red glowing cracks. The Crimson Omen sitting under the surface. Blacked-out ABXY with a transparent red X. Red triggers. A transparent D-pad. A dark silver metallic COG tag on the battery door that reads Never Fight Alone. Textured grips so it does not feel like a poster you are afraid to hold.

A second path opens September 30 on Xbox Design Lab. That custom E-Day controller uses art by Luke Preece: a skull on crossed Lancers, more skulls, battle-worn detail. Metallic triggers and D-pads, rubberized grips, and a personalized engraving are the listed upgrades. I am not inventing a Design Lab sticker price. Xbox did not print one.

There is also an 8BitDo Ultimate Charging Dock for Xbox Controllers, Gears of War: E-Day edition. Officially licensed. Works with Series X|S and Xbox One wireless controllers. Includes an 8BitDo rechargeable battery pack, magnetic alignment, drop-and-charge, and overcharge protection. Xbox did not print a USD price for the dock, so I am not going to invent one.

Gamescom Is Where the Campaign Leaves the Trailer

Both controllers go on public display for the first time at the Xbox booth at gamescom 2026. That is Hall 7, booth A-0.61, 25 upcoming games, 140 stations. More useful than the accessory table: the E-Day campaign makes its first public playable debut there, ahead of the October 6 launch. Marcus and Dom, the start of the Locust War, controllers you can actually pick up instead of squinting at a key art still.

If you are not in Cologne, Xbox is streaming from that booth on YouTube and Twitch on Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27, starting 7:00am PT (10:00am ET). The Coalition’s prequel does not need another origin explainer. It needs people to feel the first E-hole open under a city street.

$89.99 Now, October 6 Later

Pre-order the Limited Edition pad now if you want the molded cracks before launch week. Design Lab waits until September 30. The Collector’s Edition, if you are that person, includes Premium and five days of early access from October 1. Everybody else: October 6, Game Pass Ultimate on day one, Steam if you live there, Play Anywhere if you bounce between console and PC.

Official social is @Xbox and the official Xbox YouTube. The controller trailer above is from that channel. $89.99 is the number. October 6 is the date. Gamescom is the first time the campaign has to survive a public queue.
