Gundam Rogue Orbit will launch on March 5, 2027 for PS5, Bandai Namco confirmed alongside a release date trailer during today’s State of Play. The high-mobility action game opens a new Gundam timeline where humanity is fighting an unknown threat known as the Apocalypse, with players suiting up as ace pilot RE-X in the Gundam Helix.

Bandai Namco Studios is framing the project as both an entry point for newcomers and a faster, harder-hitting evolution for longtime fans. Combat spans land and space across sprawling zones, rewarding decisive melee play rather than letting every encounter settle into a cautious standstill. Helping in the cockpit is Vii, a Haro-style assist unit built specifically for the Gundam Helix.

Custom suits and a widening cast

The new trailer leans into customization as a core fantasy. Players can reshape their Mobile Suit around preferred playstyles by equipping different weapons, frames, thrusters and Apocalypse Units, then choosing a color scheme to match. Each weapon brings its own actions and skills, which matters once fights start stretching across ground campaigns and orbital set pieces.

Story faces are filling in around RE-X as well. Sofia is a mysterious young woman watching his movements. April captains the Stellarvane, an independent special-duty vessel running missions against the Apocalypse. Big Paul leads a band of sand pirates. The footage also teases a mysterious black Mobile Suit with glowing red eyes, the sort of silhouette that usually means somebody else’s idea of destiny is about to interrupt yours.

Preorders are live

Preorders are open now for PS5, with Standard, Launch, Deluxe and Collector’s Editions available through Bandai Namco. Preorder bonuses include an early unlock of the Earth Blue color customization. North American pricing for those editions has not been announced.

Gundam Rogue Orbit is also coming to Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam on the same March 5 date. With a firm launch day, suit customization and a cast starting to take shape, the new timeline finally has a calendar square instead of another vague 2027 promise. For PlayStation players, the March date turns this morning’s combat showcase into something you can actually circle on a calendar.
