Capcom put the first extended Mega Man: Dual Override gameplay on gamescom Opening Night Live today. The official Mega Man YouTube already has the same cut, titled 1st Trailer – Mega Man Gameplay. This is the twelfth mainline classic Mega Man, a brand-new action platformer, dated 2027 on the official site. Capcom is using that year to mark the series’ 40th anniversary.
The official site keeps the story tight. Dr. Light is away from the lab. Robots at the Robot Exhibition go haywire. Mega Man and Proto Man have to restore peace to the city, then use Override to find out why the show floor turned on everyone.
You play Mega Man or Proto Man. The official page says each hero has his own fighting style, so the same stage is not the same run. Mega Man is DRN.001, still carrying the Mega Buster plus Special Weapons. Proto Man is DRN.000. He uses his shield for a more technical kit and still wears the yellow scarf. Capcom’s Gamescom press note makes him playable in this trailer drop, not a cameo in the background.
Override is the new limiter break. Robots get strength beyond their normal output for a short window. When it ends, they are vulnerable, with functions running at reduced levels. Timing is the whole trick. Custom Chips sit on both heroes. Capcom’s note lists rapid-fire, a protective shield bubble, and hover as examples. You mix chips and keep the combination that fits the room. Special Weapons still come from Robot Masters you defeat. They consume weapon energy, unlike the Mega Buster. The trailer sneak-peeks a charge attack that also works as an aerial dash.
Twinkle Girl is the new face. Official copy calls her an apprentice entertainer robot whose desire to perform on the main stage sparked out of control. Fireworks, a stage, a classic Robot Master fight. Capcom’s press note says she is one of eight new Robot Masters. The same note flags Astro Man from Mega Man 8 flying through the trailer and asks if other classics come back. That is a question, not a roster.
Capcom printed platforms in the Gamescom trailer note: Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store. Wishlist tiles are up on PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam. Official social is @MegaMan. The official site is capcom-games.com/megaman/do. The gameplay video above is from the official Mega Man channel. 2027 is the year. The day is still blank. I am not printing a Dual Override dollar. Capcom did not put one on the page.
