Naughty Dog is officially working on a second unannounced title alongside its already revealed sci-fi epic, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. The confirmation comes directly from Neil Druckmann, the studio’s co-president and creative lead behind The Last of Us, who shared the news during his recent appearance on the Press X to Continue podcast.
While Intergalactic remains Naughty Dog’s main focus, Druckmann confirmed that he’s also involved in a second project—this time in a producer role rather than as creative director.
“There’s another game in development at Naughty Dog where I have more of a producer role. I get to mentor, observe the team, and provide executive feedback,” Druckmann said. “I enjoy all of those roles, and the ability to jump between them makes my job exciting and always fresh. I’m never bored.”
This approach reflects Naughty Dog’s evolving multi-development strategy, with Druckmann stepping back to guide new leadership rather than overseeing every creative decision himself.
Druckmann also elaborated on his ongoing work with Intergalactic, confirming it is co-directed by Matthew Gallant and Kurt Margenau, with Clair Carré co-writing the script.
“Sometimes I’m away and they’re in charge. When I come back, some decisions pleasantly surprise me, and others make me pull my hair out, so we have to discuss or change course,” Druckmann explained, highlighting the trust he’s placing in emerging talent within the studio.
While Druckmann didn’t drop any details about this mystery project, his executive involvement and the studio’s track record suggest it could be a new IP or a return to an established franchise. Given Naughty Dog’s history, speculation points to names like Uncharted or even The Last of Us Part III, though nothing is confirmed.
With creative leaders like Shaun Escayg (Uncharted: The Lost Legacy) or Anthony Newman (The Last of Us Part II) possibly stepping into lead roles, this could be a significant opportunity for the studio to broaden its creative voice.
After the cancellation of The Last of Us Online, many fans wondered if Naughty Dog would retreat to a single-game focus. However, Druckmann’s comments reinforce the idea that the studio is fully committed to managing multiple major productions simultaneously—a bold move for one of PlayStation’s flagship developers.
