Nintendo has unveiled GameShare, a brand-new feature exclusive to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, which allows players to share free-to-play or owned games with friends, either locally or online, even with those still playing on the original Switch.
As the Switch 2 launches this Thursday, June 5, GameShare is positioned as one of its most exciting new social features, designed to make co-op and multiplayer more accessible than ever.
GameShare allows users to temporarily share their games with others, enabling co-op play without requiring everyone to own a copy. Whether through local communication or online via GameChat, it brings a fresh twist to Nintendo’s multiplayer offerings.
Switch 2 ➜ Switch 2: Can share and receive games.
Switch 2 ➜ Switch: Can share games to a first-gen Switch (only if the game is compatible).
Switch ➜ Switch or Switch 2: Cannot share games, only receive.
Switch 2 ➜ Switch 2: Can share and receive games online.
Switch ➜ Anyone: Cannot share or receive games online.
📌 Important Note: Shared games are only playable during the GameChat session. Once the session ends, access to the shared game is revoked.
Nintendo has confirmed that several popular titles will support GameShare, including:
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Super Mario Odyssey
51 Worldwide Games
Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV (local only)
With GameShare, Nintendo is simplifying how players experience games together. Whether you’re showing a friend a new title or diving into a party game with family, Switch 2 makes it easier than ever to play—and share—the fun.
