The anticipation for the Nintendo Switch 2 is reaching record-breaking levels, and demand is already outpacing supply—even before the console officially hits the market on June 5. Nintendo has now issued a formal warning to U.S. customers: despite efforts to meet launch demand, delivery on release day is not guaranteed.
On the official U.S. Switch 2 website, a disclaimer now notifies customers that while Nintendo is working hard to fulfill orders, launch day delivery is not assured. The message reads:
“Due to high demand, we will work diligently to fulfill orders as product becomes available, but we do not guarantee delivery on June 5th. We will confirm the shipping date upon purchase.”
This follows a similar warning issued in Japan, where pre-order demand quickly surpassed Nintendo’s production forecasts, signaling a massive global interest in the new console. Many are already predicting this could become the biggest console launch in video game history.
This marks the second major hurdle facing Switch 2’s rollout in the U.S.:
Tariff-related delays initially postponed pre-orders through Nintendo’s own My Nintendo Store.
Now, pre-order demand has prompted warnings about shipping delays.
As a result, Nintendo’s official reservation system in the U.S. won’t open until May 8, while retail pre-orders at third-party stores have already begun in limited quantities.
While Nintendo is clearly preparing massive inventory, the company has publicly acknowledged that demand is “exceeding expectations” across all territories. If you plan to pick up a Switch 2 at launch, early pre-ordering through retail partners may be the best option to secure your console for June 5—though even then, delivery delays remain possible.
Stay tuned for updates as Nintendo continues to manage what could become its most successful hardware launch ever.
