Ubisoft announced Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics at gamescom Opening Night Live. That sentence is on the official Ubisoft news page. The official Rainbow 6 YouTube has the reveal trailer. This is a single-player, turn-based tactical game set in the Rainbow Six universe, running alongside the Siege timeline after a new global threat pushes the unit onto a broader map.
You play as Six, commander of the Rainbow unit. Official copy walks the loop: pick a high-stakes assignment, plan at HQ, then execute in the field. For the first time in the franchise, that chair is yours from the briefing to the breach.
The roster is 15 Operators from Rainbow Six Siege. Each one has unique abilities, specialized gadgets, and a distinct skill tree. You assign up to four to a squad based on the job. Official news lists mission types: Hostage Rescue, Bomb Disposal, and Target Elimination. It also prints over 45 locations around the world. The official press note calls the campaign dozens of missions in diverse locations. Same idea, two official phrasings.
HQ is where you read intel, pick the four, and set the plan. In the field you combine abilities, recon tools, gadgets, and destructible environments. Official copy tells you to break walls for new sightlines, strip enemy cover, or cut a new entry as the turn goes sideways. Turn-based combat is where a clean plan dies. You are supposed to plan for that.
Breach Planning is the Siege-minded break in the turn structure. You queue coordinated actions, then the squad hits at once. The official press note calls Breach a synchronized assault that breaks the turn-based rhythm and lets every operator act together, abilities plus destruction, Rainbow Six style.
The official Opening Night Live press note names the studio: Ubisoft Paris. Milan shows up in some recaps. That name is not on the official news page and not on the official press note, so it is not going in this copy.
Between missions you upgrade the base, train Operators, and tighten the team. Platforms on official news: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, GeForce Now, Blacknut, and PC through the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The press note adds Ubisoft+ and Ubisoft Connect. Wishlist tiles are up. Official site is rainbowsixtactics.com. There is a closed test page on that same domain. I am not printing a year or a USD sticker. The official news post did not print either.
The trailer above is from the official Rainbow 6 channel. Opening Night Live is the reveal. The next official note is the one that matters if you want a day.
