Grand Theft Auto VI is dated Thursday, November 19, 2026. That is still the date on Rockstar’s site today. It stopped being May 26, 2026 on November 6, 2025, when Rockstar posted a short newswire and Take-Two put the same Thursday in its fiscal second-quarter release at 1:05 p.m. PT (4:05 p.m. ET). I am writing this as an August file, not as if the spring window is still alive. It is not.

Rockstar’s note is four sentences and a closing. “Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026.” Then the apology they have used before, tightened for a second slip: “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” They thank people for patience, and they point at “the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City.” That is the entire official reason. Polish. I am not going to dress it up as a feature list they did not publish.

May 26 Is the Date They Left Behind

The first calendar day Rockstar ever printed was May 26, 2026, in a May 2025 newswire after the 2025 window died. November 6, 2025 moved that Tuesday by a little under six months, to a Thursday in the holiday stretch. Take-Two’s earnings table lists the platforms the same way Rockstar does: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PC date in that table. I am not going to invent one so this paragraph feels finished.

Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two’s chairman and CEO, put the new day in the prepared remarks. “Rockstar Games will now release Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19, 2026, and we remain both excited and confident they will deliver an unrivalled blockbuster entertainment experience.” On the earnings call slides, Take-Two said the extra time was “giving the team some additional time to finish the game with the high level of polish players expect and deserve.” Rockstar, they added, has their full support. That is the parent-company sentence. It matches the newswire. It does not add a new excuse.

The Official Site Did Not Keep May

If you open rockstargames.com/VI now, the hero still says November 19, 2026. That is the only date I am willing to type in the present tense. Trailer 2 is still the last full look Rockstar posted before the delay note. The Extended Look they later dated for August 27 sits on the same page. None of that puts the game back in May. Anyone still quoting May 26 is quoting a newswire Rockstar replaced.

I am not going to hang a dollar figure on the November 6 note, because that post does not print one. I am not going to treat a leak, a map, or a job ad as a substitute for the Thursday they signed. The primary sources are Rockstar’s November 19 newswire and Take-Two’s November 6 earnings release. Watch @RockstarGames for the North American account that actually changes the date. November 19, 2026 is the day they moved it to. May 26 is the day they left.
