Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment released the free Retrieval update for John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic, the second major drop since launch. Retrieval Mode is a steal-and-sprint: pick a map, collect relics, and extract before the hordes catch you, which is a polite way of saying the Sludge has a calendar and you are already late.

The mode is live on four maps, Church of the Damned, High Octane, Impasse, and Demon Bait, and it brings Goblins, small zombies that travel in packs and revive each other if one of the three is still standing, which turns a mop-up into a group project. New tools lean mean: Le Clairon, a flamethrower, the Thunderstick, and a Saw Trap that does the job the name promises. Dash is in for the daily missions, Trials Season 2 is rolling, PC players can host local servers, and vehicles and bots got the cleanup pass they needed if you have ever watched an AI teammate park in a horde.

Cosmetic Pack 2 rides with the Bloody Season Pass for anyone who wants Sludge-inspired skins, which is either devotion or a cry for help. Steam currently has the base game 30 percent off and the Blood Edition 35 percent off, and Walter Irons drops into Fortnite on September 5 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET for Epic Games Store owners of the game. Official social is @JCToxicCommando and @Focus_entmt.
