CD PROJEKT RED is taking The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past to gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25. The first look lands during the show at 11:00am PT (2:00pm ET). After that, the studio runs guided presentations on the Cologne floor for the rest of the week.

This is the third expansion for a game that launched in 2015, which is a long time to keep a silver sword sharp and somehow still the plan. Songs of the Past puts you back in the role of Geralt of Rivia for a new adventure. It launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. CD PROJEKT RED is co-developing it with Fool’s Theory, a team of industry veterans who already worked on The Witcher 3.

Late Summer, Finally on a Stage

When the studio announced the expansion on May 27, the next beat was more details in late summer 2026. Opening Night Live is that date. The official Witcher page still just says Coming in 2027, next to the key art of Geralt drawing on something that looks like it grew out of the wrong forest. No gameplay reel. No map. No price. Tuesday is the first time CD PROJEKT RED is putting new information on a stage.

The Witcher 3 has sold more than 65 million copies since 2015. It has more than 250 Game of the Year awards and 1,000 industry awards. That is the pile Songs of the Past has to walk into, and it is why a first look still matters on a Tuesday in August for a game people finished a decade ago.

Cologne After the Stream

If you are actually in Cologne, the stream is not the whole visit. CD PROJEKT RED is running guided presentations in the business area at booth B065 in Hall 4.2 from August 26 to August 28, and in the entertainment area at booths B030 and A031 in Hall 8.1 from August 26 to August 30. Same expansion. Different room. Geoff Keighley hosts the Opening Night Live half. The booth is the version you stand in line for.

Official social is @thewitcher and @CDPROJEKTRED. Opening Night Live is Tuesday at 11:00am PT (2:00pm ET). 2027 is still the year on the box. Tuesday is supposed to start filling in everything between those two dates.
