KORO.GAMES built a co-op joke about walking after last call. The demo is one stage. The legs are the whole product.
KORO.GAMES developed Friendly Steps. Ytopia is publishing it on Steam on September 3, 2026. I played the free demo that went up June 4 for Next Fest. One to four players, local or online. Price for the full game is still not on the store page. This is a demo write-up, not a campaign review.
One Button Per Foot
You do not steer a character. You lift the left foot, then the right. Hold a step too long and you do the splits on the pavement. Crawl if the walk has already lost the argument. Solo means both legs are yours. With friends, each person owns a pair and a rope ties the bodies together.
The rope is the design. One person goes in the drink, the rest follow. Four players is funnier and worse. Two is the version where you still finish the street. Voice chat helps. It also turns a missed stair into a trial.
The June build is a special showcase route, not a cut of the campaign. Stairs, a bridge, a construction stretch, a “shortcut” that is a dare. Hidden bits exist if you leave the polite line. Time-attack and the full costume rack are promised for the paid game. The demo has enough outfits to look like a salaryman, a cop, or someone who streamed the fall.
What the Demo Proves
The walk is the toy. It clicks in five minutes and stays funny for a night if the lobby is human. It is thin if you are alone. Solo play works as a tutorial. It is not why you buy this.
Physics can be stubborn. A foot catches a lip that looked honest. A rope yank sends three people off a rail you already cleared. That is the bit, until it happens four times on the same plank and the joke cools. The city is a set, not a neighborhood. NPCs and side noise are flavor. They are not a story.
SMii7Y’s clip did the marketing. Next Fest put the demo in a Top-20 pile. That tracks. Party physics games live or die on one session. This one has the session. It does not yet prove it has a second hour.
Who Should Download It
Grab the demo if you have two or three people on voice and an evening you can waste. Skip it if you wanted a campaign, a fair physics lesson, or a game that is good in silence. The full release is tomorrow. The demo is the honest pitch: walk, fall, blame the rope.
Final Thoughts
Friendly Steps is a drunk-walk co-op toy that knows the assignment. The demo is short on purpose. Play it with people. Do not expect the showcase street to stand in for a whole night out. If the paid build is just more of this route, that is enough for a party and not enough for a week. 7.0 / Good.
Good
- Separate legs that actually feel drunk
- A rope that turns one mistake into a group problem
- Local or online for up to four
- A showcase stage you can finish in a sitting
- Cosmetics that make the pile-up funnier
Bad
- Solo is a practice mode, not the game
- Physics snags that stop being funny on the same plank
- A demo that is one street, not a campaign slice
- No printed price before launch
- A city that is a set, not a place
