The shooter rivalry is reigniting this fall as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 prepares to go head-to-head with Battlefield 6, the first mainline Battlefield entry in years. Despite Electronic Arts’ high expectations for its October 10 release, Activision management isn’t worried, confident that Call of Duty’s brand strength will keep it on top.
Sources claim the next four years of Call of Duty releases are already mapped out, with Black Ops 7 described internally as a “strong” entry despite early development hurdles. Activision reportedly believes Battlefield’s return won’t threaten CoD’s dominance in the FPS market.
Battlefield 6 – October 10, 2025
Black Ops 7 – Expected late October or early November
The proximity makes this a direct showdown, especially with both set in the near future, promising a thematic and stylistic clash.
The competition could also spill into the free-to-play arena, with leaks hinting at a new Battlefield battle royale that might target Warzone’s massive player base.
Black Ops 7 will have its big reveal at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live on August 19, where Activision is expected to show campaign footage and multiplayer details.
The shooter war is officially back on, this time, it’s personal.
