Hideo Kojima has just showcased an impressive new feature for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach during his latest panel at Summer Game Fest 2025: the soundtrack, composed by acclaimed artist Woodkid, dynamically changes according to your actions and movements within the game.

🎵 Adaptive Soundtrack

In the new gameplay footage revealed by Kojima, we see the music react directly to the player’s actions:

  • Percussion plays rhythmically as protagonist Sam Porter Bridges walks, and stops when he pauses.

  • Music intensity and instrumentation shifts depending on Sam’s location and path choice, offering unique musical experiences tailored to each player’s journey.

“The intensity of the music changes depending on whether you’re walking along the peak of a mountain or descending a slope.”

Check out this fascinating adaptive soundtrack in action (gameplay starts at 40:58 in the video shown at the event).

🎼 Collaboration with Woodkid

French musician Woodkid joins returning composer Ludvig Forsell to craft this reactive musical experience. Just as Low Roar became iconic to the first game, Woodkid’s music will heavily influence the sequel’s emotional tone and atmosphere.
