Rainbow 6 Siege Review

Rainbow 6 Series is back with a game focused on multiplayer, tactical movements and destruction!

The progression system enables you to unlock various special force units, which are the Russina Spetsnaz, French GIGN, the British SAS, the German GSG 9 SWAT or the United States. Each of them will have 4 characters that are armed with lethal equipment and different gadgets with its own strengths and weaknesses. Some of the equipments are smoke grenades, flash bangs, C4 to take down walls, poison gas and etc. The game will prevent you from taking a character that was taken already in the same game mode, therefore, you will have to choose one fast before it is taken.

One critical feature in the game is that all wall materials that are destructive are built with different type of materials. If you for example hide behind a stone wall, you will be more safe than behind other fragile objects or wood walls. You will have to be smart when hiding, which adds another fun factor to the game. However, you will lose if you are only hiding since anything is destructible and will only hold for so long.

All maps are build on close combat mostly and you will find yourself in very complicated labyrinth type of buildings, including roof tops, windows and complicated hall ways. You can hang down on a rope and shoot upside down through windows to surprise the enemy.

You will find that if you play too offensively you will struggle to stay alive, regardless of the task itself. Your goal is to meet the objective or eliminate all rivals. This will put you in situations where you might risk your own life. However, if you happen to not meet the objective or if you are taken down, you will still be awarded with points to support your work progress.

So far everything sounds wonderful, however, one issue that we encountered is that the content is quite limited. That being said, the game is quite entertaining and if new maps are added on the fun will most likely continue. We are hoping that the additional free content comes not too late to keep the community engaged.

Good

  • Great Visuals and wonderful use of Sounds
  • Destructible environment and interesting maps
  • When played with friends or people with mics very tense and rewarding

Bad

  • Lack of Campaign/Story mode
  • Some minor issues such as getting stuck in map while setting a barricade or connection issue, which probably get fixed with updates, but not a deal breaker

Great

As far as I can remember, I've been surrounded by technology. My father bought us a Commodore 64 so I started playing games as a baby, following my passion with Amiga 500, then PC and so on. I love game related collectibles, and when I'm not collecting I review games, watch movies and TV Shows or you may catch me keeping a low profile at Game Events.
