Capcom’s highly anticipated Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth main entry in the legendary survival-horror series, was a standout reveal at Summer Game Fest 2025. Now, we at Hyped4 have had exclusive hands-on experience with the game, uncovering an exciting new detail that fans have been eager to learn:
Players will have the freedom to toggle seamlessly between a first-person perspective (similar to Resident Evil 7 and Village) and the series’ traditional third-person view. Capcom has clearly optimized gameplay for the first-person experience, maximizing immersion and tension—but they’ve also made a strong effort to ensure the third-person option feels fully polished and natural, complete with detailed character animations.
“This ninth main installment includes the option to change the camera to third person: immersion is lost, yes, but it is surprising how carefully they have taken care of the protagonist’s animations for a mode that they themselves consider optional, since they recommend the FPS view.” – Fran G. Matas, Hyped4
