Among Us VR, the immersive virtual reality adaptation of the beloved multiplayer deception game, is expanding beyond VR with a new version titled Among Us 3D. Developed by Innersloth in collaboration with Schell Games, this updated edition will allow PC players to experience the game without the need for a VR headset, retaining the first-person gameplay that made the VR version so unique.
Originally released in 2022 for PC VR, Quest 2, and PlayStation VR, Among Us VR translated the 2D party game into a fully immersive 3D world where players unmask impostors in first-person. Now, this experience is being adapted for non-VR players, making it more accessible to a broader audience.
While a release date has not yet been announced, Among Us 3D is set to arrive soon, and players will get their first taste of it with a free demo available next week during Steam Next Fest.
Ryan Hall, the game’s director, explained the decision behind the name change:
“What was previously Among Us VR will now be Among Us 3D because it highlights the first-person perspective and unifies VR and PC players. Over the coming months, we’ll be slowly rebranding Among Us VR as Among Us 3D across stores, websites, and in-game.”
With a free demo dropping next week, players will soon be able to experience the chaos of first-person deception without a VR headset. Whether you play in virtual reality or on a traditional screen, the impostor-hunting fun remains just as intense.
