Brace yourself, fight fans! EA Sports has slyly let slip that they’re sharpening their digital boxing gloves for another round in the octagonal ring. That’s right, UFC 5 is about to drop its stealthy combo attack on us sometime this year, a full three years after its predecessor landed a knockout punch.
Yes, indeed, the official announcement was as mysterious as a heavyweight hiding behind a feint. EA basically teased us, promising to peel back the layers of this digital fighting onion in September. Their tweet, as cryptic as a silent ninja, simply read: “Coming soon, UFC 5”.

The tweet also kindly invites us to subscribe to their newsletter if we want to be kept in the loop. It’s almost like they’re baiting us into their email octagon with promises of juicy info. But come on, who wouldn’t want to get the 411 on this?
If we time-travel back to mid-2020, we’ll remember that’s when UFC 4, the latest offering from the EA Sports stables, was let loose on the gaming populace. Our review was full of praise, celebrating it as the ultimate MMA simulator on the inside of the octagon. It offered improved movements, a mind-blowing depiction of fights, and a really killer job when it came to combat. Not to mention, its simplified ground fight system was a godsend for newbies. However, seasoned veterans might have found it a tad lacking and probably toggled back to the classic system. But hey, the submission minigames were a blast!
As of now, it’s anyone’s guess on which platforms UFC 5 will land its punch. UFC 4 kept things exclusive to the PS4 and Xbox One. But we’re betting our bottom dollar that EA is likely to make the leap to the next-gen consoles, the PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. If they’re pulling a surprise move, we’ll just have to wait until they’re ready to make the reveal. So, my dear gaming gladiators, get ready for another round of virtual pugilism!
