CD Projekt Red has confirmed that it is working on updating its hit The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for the new generation of hardware, including PS5, Xbox Series X and the latest advancements on PC. The open-world role-playing game, which released back in 2015, will receive numerous visual and technical improvements, including ray-tracing lighting and faster load times in both the base game and its expansions and all the extra content. These two improvements mentioned – lighting and the use of SSD – are aspects that are being greatly enhanced in the new consoles.

“The next-gen edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released standalone on PC, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, plus a free update for everyone who already owns the game on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4,” said the studio that is currently working on Cyberpunk 2077, another RPG that will also be improved for the new consoles. It will apply to the original and full versions, as well as adding HDR to the PC version.

The Witcher 3 has been a huge success since its debut, both in terms of criticism and sales and fame achieved with other products, including a series on Netflix. In 2019 it was adapted to Nintendo Switch, and The Witcher 4 is already in preparationThe saga accumulates more than 50 million copies sold of which 28 million belong to The Witcher 3.

A modern classic

“If one of the greatest successes you can have a video game is to transport us to a fantasy world in which to lose track of time and forget about reality for tens of hours, living incredible adventures and meeting fascinating characters, The Witcher 3 it achieves like few others, and it has that ability to absorb you that only great games achieve. Model in many aspects, such as its network of missions and the great system of decisions and consequences, only gameplay that can be improved in certain aspects, and a technical section that leaves a little to be desired in the console.
