Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 Review

The fun multiplayer battles between Plants vs. Zombies return with a successful sequel, filled with content and focuses on enhancing the gamer experience.

Playing Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 solo is not as fun as online. In any case we are glad that they have included a campaign, which was something missing from the first installment, and if the story missions could support online co-op that would be simply fantastic.

Battlefield Patio seems a great idea , a natural way to eliminate the classic and boring menus of the previous game, and although at first it may seem confusing, but after an hour you will be able to find out where everything is, and see how comfortable it is to move from one place to another. In addition it worths exploring this open world, as it contains some secrets and collectibles, as well as a horde mode in the central area can be infinite, and we can play up to three friends for succulent rewards.

Six new characters

Other big news are the six new classes of characters , who join next to eight from the first game that keepcoming back, so we have seven kinds of character on each side, with up to ten variations in some cases, which has a total of more than 100 different characters to choose from , you first have to win them, by opening character packs. You can open these packs by in-game coins which can be purchased with real-life money or you can simply earn them by playing the game.

On the side of the plants new characters are Citron , one from the future bounty hunter who shoots a laser beam, which can deploy a very useful shield, and can turn into a ball to move very quickly, which is very difficult to achieve . Rosa is a sorceress who uses a wand to cast magical thistles, you can transform enemies into goats or paralyze them into a temporary trap, inaddition to fizzle out of a sticky situation with a special skill to transform into energy. Finally Kernel Corn is a genuine shooter with dual Cob Busters on both side , it has a powerful airstrike and the spectacular leap corn directly damages anything below him, meking him a very offensive character.

On the side of the zombies we have to Captain Deadbeard , a pirate moving off with his wooden leg but has a great offensive power, with a  cannon shot that may be of medium or long distance attack depending on whether or not you aim, a parrot you can deploy to attack from a distance as if it were a drone, and a skill that lets you shoot powerful guns. Super Brainz is a hero that attacks by punching or throwing a laser beam at a distance, and which has such powerful abilities like a whirlwind or Super ultra ball, a kind of Hadouken or Kame Hame Ha.  Imp is a little character but he is a bully, one of the friendliest, carrying a gun in each hand and with the ability of summoning the Z-Mech, a powerful weapon of destruction in which we can ride, definitely a clear reference to Titanfall

All six characters are added from the first installment (Soldier, Engineer, Scientific and All-Star on the side of the zombies, and Peashooter, Carnivorous Plant, Sunflower and Cactus by the plant), and as mentioned above have different variations that change their appearance dramatically, and also the type of attack, with shots of fire, ice, poison and so on . Altogether a lot of characters to choose from , for all tastes , and can be personalized with great freedom, both visually, with plenty of available objects, as their powers and abilities.

The progression system has changed substantially compared to the first installment. Now we get experience points constantly that raise the level of both the character you are controlling as our player profile, having left the challenges as an extra for multipliers experience points that unlock rewards in the Patio. Another great feature is that if you played the firstPlants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare you will be able to import your characters.

Good

  • Variety of new game modes, characters and missions
  • Campaing mode is finally here and there is fair amount of content to enjoy the game Solo
  • Maps are larger and supporting up to 24 players now!
  • Excellent character customization options.

Bad

  • Some single player missions may feel boring and a little too hard to complete.

Great

As far as I can remember, I've been surrounded by technology. My father bought us a Commodore 64 so I started playing games as a baby, following my passion with Amiga 500, then PC and so on. I love game related collectibles, and when I'm not collecting I review games, watch movies and TV Shows or you may catch me keeping a low profile at Game Events.
