Mario Kart 8 Review

Nintendo playable again demonstrates its excellence with which probably is the best delivery of a legendary saga. A wildly fun game to be glued to the TV alone or in the company for tens of hours.

You can play online with two players from the same console , and the first thing they ask us to start playing is if we want, Regional, starting with World Friends and rivals or Tournament. Then we can choose Run, or Custom Battle, choosing mode -50, 100, 150, mirror, objects, -all vehicles, karts or motos-, and controls-all or only giroscopio-. Once we entered a lobby offer three circuits to vote for our favorite random or opt for one, and while we wait for the game to start you can select a predefined small text messages. It is in groups with friends where we can also use voice chat, but only while waiting for the race to begin. It is not too intuitive or comfortable playing alongside friends something more guilt operating system that the game-Wii U itself, and we have to go looking out of play if one is connected and playing Mario Kart 8 and then try to enter his departure.

It is in the tournament where things are a little better, and we can create, look for rules, open, or putting a private tournament participate in code. We can choose many rules and parameters to create a tournament: an icon, a name, mode, with or without equipment, objects, vehicles, controls, with or without CPU and the difficulty of this, the dates and times to play it The number of races, and even restriction player points. The truth is quite good, and I’m sure the community will not stop creating competition. It is in the classic fast online game where we miss news, as we have to the traditional scoring system from the first online mode of Mario Kart DS , and even no leaderboards, divisions, statistics or anything usual in other online games, giving the feeling of being a somewhat archaic now. So we’ve tried so far works very well, with few load times and no lag , but few players are clear now, and we have to see how it behaves when it goes on sale.

Of course the local multiplayer for up to four players remain very protagonist in Mario Kart , and have the same single-player modes, with the Grand Prix which can play four-, Race VS. and Battle. The playing both screen is divided necessarily vertical, there is no possibility of change, and the rate of frames per second remains at 60. It’s playing four when fps become 30, which obviously shows a lot in fluency and quality of the experience, although no longer be fun to play with three other friends.

And we’re going to have problems getting sufficient controls, because we have a lot of options: Wii U GamePad, Wii U Pro Controller, Wii Remote + Classic Controller Pro, Wii Remote and Wii Remote + Nunchuk. Our favorite and by far is the Wii U Pro Controller, and about the Wii controls, and even the slider of Nintendo 3DS, Mario Kart 8 and played much better simply because of that, the quality of the sticks their new commands, although we find it more uncomfortable GamePad its size Command Pro. A command screen that is rarely used in Mario Kart 8 , showing the classification of the race and objects of each driver in the center of a button to sound the horn, see the map, switch between the classic or gyroscopes control and quickly switch to Off-TV mode. Very disappointing that in a Wii title flag given a differential factor such poor use of the console.

Good

  • New levels are very smartly designed and super fun to play
  • Online is smooth and very well coded
  • Variety of new additional content to unlock

Bad

  • Wish there were more character choices
  • Some limitations such as no menu access at pause and missing content from previous installments such as blue shells
8

Great

As far as I can remember, I've been surrounded by technology. My father bought us a Commodore 64 so I started playing games as a baby, following my passion with Amiga 500, then PC and so on. I love game related collectibles, and when I'm not collecting I review games, watch movies and TV Shows or you may catch me keeping a low profile at Game Events.
