A prison to take care
Prison Architect is more than a simple game management and construction. Campaign mode has already made it clear and how far targeted. It’s free-play mode, we choose the environment and start from scratch to build a huge prison to our liking. This particular skirmish gives us a certain amount of money, limit the size of the map.
This is when we are aware of the possibilities of the title and the huge playable layers coming with it because we will not just be a simple watch guard, throughout the game the prisoners continuously coming and going through the stage. In Prison Architect, especially in free mode, you get to choose what kind of governor you will, you could show extra care for the rehabilitation of prisoners or one with a special obsession with security and control of the prison as you seek economic returns. Also, we have some leeway when lifting and design facilities, thinking about what buildings, blocks or modules can help in the management, or if we want to think about the reintegration of prisoners after passing through our facilities.
Prison Architect is a game quite serious and solid in this area, because like other management games, offers and delegates all control in the player. What kind of doctors will we hire our infirmary? Do you realize a smaller block comfortable and pleasant prisons or one in which contains criminals of the worst kind? Should you lower cleaning and increase security? Will you build a playground and offer better food in the canteen? The possibilities are enormous, given the varying conditions of each game, they become virtually endless.
As one of the most interesting aspects of Prison Architect is the curious feeling that everything we do, one way or another, directly influences the course of events of the game. If you are too relaxed with security measures and give excessive release to prisoners, it is very likely that these end up grouped by bands and taking control of the yard, extorting other inmates and becoming an idyllic paradise behind bars in the broth for a riot situation. Mutiny also can come sponsored by a poor quality of the dining room or an absurd increase security in the facility.
In any case, and despite the overwhelming concept, Double11 and Introversion have also thought of the players who only want to enjoy managing a prison, beyond construction and aspects related to this. Thus, the game also thinks of these players by giving them a set of already built prisons, which also saved many winks to prison genre seen in film and television, with details that remind us Prison Break, and Escape from Alcatraz.
