Gameplay
As we move into the depths of the ocean, we quickly realize two main facts. On one hand, the atmosphere that has been created to shape this work and later dialogue are tremendously attractive. And, also, that the title presents us with a wide range of situations that we should be solving in many different ways. Song of the Deep can boast a fairly complex system of gameplay in the best sense, combining many elements that shape a comprehensive and varied adventure.
Exploration is essential, and the scenarios have a very attractive design and labyrinth-like stages, important to investigate thoroughly each level because each of them hides many secrets, alternative routes, coins, and valuables that can be gathered. And why it is necessary to collect? Well, above all, to keep improving the ability and strength of our submarine, which is capable of receiving upgrades that allow it from firing missiles to use a clamp that can be used both to collect items or attack enemies.
Also, these upgrades are essential to reach new areas that are inaccessible early in the game, the fundamental aspect of this type of games. Improving our weapons also stop us being such an easy prey to the many enemies lurking in the depths of this majestic ocean.
Indeed, although at the beginning of our trip we hardly noticed the presence of adversaries, as we progress the quantity and strength of rival facing us in every area grow progressively. And that includes the presence of any other boss to that end, very few yes, which and we assure you that will make things complicated.
But surely and in our opinion, the worst “rival” that awaits us in this adventure has to do with solving puzzles. There are many enigmas and puzzles that await us in the infinity of the ocean and although at first, these are rather simple, sporadic and hardly pose any challenge as we move forward we need to go using larger amounts of brains and also demonstrate our skill with the command to be able to overcome some challenges. Puzzles and minigames that add even more grace to the whole package
And the element that can not fail to mention is added: the game’s great narrative. Although it does not contains the same charm that lived in other classics titles like the majestic Ori and the Blind Forest, yet the fact is strong that Song of the Deep can also entertain with a great story and holds a special charm.
