Riptide contains lots of action along with missions spread across the map, primary and secondary such as rescuing tourists or defense certain locations. Riptide is more fun to play co-op than the single mode for which seems Techland designed it that way from the outset. It is a very wide game, designed for cooperative play, and can absorb you and your team=mates for almost as many hours as you want to play at normal speed. 20 hours are guaranteed by all missions but include many small roads to explore, many fast mini-missions, which can be scraping your time fo more fun.
What’s New in Definitive Collection?
Definitive Collection includes a third game called Dead Island: Retro Revenge. Our protagonist must go in search of his kidnapped cat! Isn’t that the best excuse to start a slaughter? If you look the images, you might think that this is a Final Fight against zombies, but it is not like that.
Our hero is in constant motion, running on three planes rails filled with obstacles, weapons, health points and of course, various kinds of zombies. The basic attacks are punches and kicks, pay attention to the hitting zone because depending on the type of creature may correspond such as a zombie dog can not be punched due to its height, so a ground slide attack is the only way to take them down. Also, don’t forget to use special attacks as well as items to wreak more havoc and stacking more combo points. This is an entertaining arcade game for its simplicity as we enjoyed it a lot!
Back to the main game definitive versions includes all the previously released DLC, and received many graphical enhancements that represent a leap from last generation consoles. The only downfall that definitive edition is not passing the 30 frames per second at1080p resolution on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but then again they increased detail in almost all areas; modeling, textures, and higher quality, improved shading, new lighting, antialiasing, ambient occlusion (HBAO), motion blur, and a revamped interface that makes the whole experience more consistent.
Definitive Collection also brings a one-punch mode based on a popular PC Mod where your punches are much stronger than usual, and a blow will send them zombies flying into the distance. Activating this mode will deactivate any trophies or achievements progress, so it is recommended to play around with this mode if you’re are not interested in getting those achievements.
Final Thoughts
For those who played it on PlayStation 3 or Xbox, 360, you will realize that the visual improvements are remarkable. Techland has done a perfect job. Definitive Collection is not only a simple resolution upgrade as some other lazy remastered titles. The paradise island has never looked so good in the console and is a very inviting title for the fans of open world games, especially we recommend you to play and enjoy it in co-op mode. Additionally, Retro Revenge is more fun than it seems at first glance and adds more value to complete set. Of course, Remastered Dead Islands are more targeted to those who are new to the series, hence the reasonably priced -each to $19.99 also available separately in digital distribution. If you are interested in them, this is a good opportunity to get your hands on with them before Dead Island 2 comes out!
