Homefront: The Revolution Review

Since it is an open world, you will face missions and typical events that arise on our trip. For example to free hostages, and there are many resources to search. The city needs to be investigated on foot or in vehicles to find other soldiers willing to collaborate in specific orders. Our actions will add civilians to the cause and motivate the population to represent with demonstrations, protesting posters and other complaints that will leave their mark on the city.

HFTR-CO-OP-ALL-MEDIA-04It is true that the linearity has been removed, but sometimes it seems to be more aesthetic than real. On the positive side, we can approach each mission from many sides, and is used to confuse the enemy . “We can pursue the drones, flee into houses, so cameras lose your sight. You will hardly go into buildings alone, but if you are a fan of stealth gameplay you might want to discover more paths as a lone wolf. It seems that the mission design itself looks very guided, and it takes us all over the map without further incentive to return to the areas that were recovered.20150804_HFR_screens_01__emargoed_4Aug_1730

These activities will get quickly very repetitive, but you can not deny that some orders are fun – at least in theory. Expel sniper of a building, hack into systems with a simple minigame -Move the levers to hit the signal- or blow up trucks on the road will indeed rise the people from their hideouts; the issue is to unlock each new neighborhood, you must repeat similar missions.

HFTR-CO-OP-ALL-MEDIA-05A curiosity of the weapons of the resistance is its transformable guns. For reasons of history, you can not steal rifles from fallen enemies. They are protected and customized for their owners, so we are limited to the resources created with homemade weapons and upgrades. What we are provided are the kits that allow disarming a gun in a few seconds to get a rifle, grenade launcher or crossbow. This ingenious system radically changes its usefulness by adding mufflers or more power.

: The Revolution alternate stealth with action, or at least gives the opportunity to overcome some tasks in a more personal way. It is in no way a Deus Ex or Hitman also, the artificial intelligence makes questionable decisions during action-packed moments at times.

Good

  • The revolution nicely conveys the feeling of being a part of a resistance
  • Co-op mode is fun to play with friends
  • Weapon customization is well designed

Bad

  • Feels unpolished at times
  • Enemy AI acts unresponsive sometimes
  • CryENGINE needs to be more optimized for consoles

As far as I can remember, I've been surrounded by technology. My father bought us a Commodore 64 so I started playing games as a baby, following my passion with Amiga 500, then PC and so on. I love game related collectibles, and when I'm not collecting I review games, watch movies and TV Shows or you may catch me keeping a low profile at Game Events.
