Apart from the campaign, there is a cooperative mode for four players. This is a different option and therefore has its unlockable characters, classes, and skills. There aren’t too many missions to play, at least at the moment, but it is worth trying these challenges with friends and see how they change strategies against AI controlled recruits.
Unfortunately, the game did not go out on the market as a very polished product. The graphics are far from justifiable with low frame rates per second and regular break during the game having the background loaded etc. You can tell that CryENGINE is not optimized for consoles. This is such a pity because this technology has shown that there is potential to compete with the Unreal Engine 4, but that requires investments and more time to optimize.
The Revolution can surprise with some details and disappoints in others. The face expressions could have been more animated, and certain areas do look like they are still stuck in the past console generation. You will see many glitches in the graphics which can get very annoying when in a gunfight. We hope that this failure will be fixed with upcoming updates.
Conclusions
Homefront: The Revolution was a very promising title, but we believe that it could have given so much more. It is true that an open world is interpreted to be more fun at times rather than a streamlined storyline, but it is tough to make it entertaining from start to finish since it can get very complicated. Some missions feel very uninspired, and there are very slow progress and little incentive to see new neighborhoods that were crushed by the war. Despite that, those interested in a Far Cry urban type of game will enjoy this game even though it can get very repetitive. We are hoping that the updates will fix most of the issues that came at release.
