The Talos Principle Deluxe Edition Review

The Talos Principle comes with an expansion to PlayStation 4. It is one of the best puzzle game on the console in recent years.

The Talos Principle has an excellent learning curve, and if I had one criticism it is that it starts very easy. Fortunately, there are no easy way around the puzzles or guards, the game is accessible for any player regardless of experience or age. It also has the option to switch to third-person camera , but the default first person mode is most comfortable.

Some scenes are beautiful.

Some stages are beautiful to look at.

The road to Gehenna is available from the start in the top menu , and it does not require you to complete Principle of Talos. Definitely a good option for those who already played it in PC and want to go directly to expansion. Of course, for novices is highly recommended to start from begining and work you way to unlocking gadgets that will help you to beat high difficulty levels , by the time you finished the Principle of Talos you will have a better understanding how to solve the most advanced puzzles. The Road to Ghenna is not as big as the principle of Talos but the quality itself is similar.

Deluxe Edition

As already we mentioned, PlayStation 4 version comes with main game plus its expansion. It costs $39.99  as digital download, also available on disc. The best puzzle game of the past years and the best of the current generation of consoles and worth the price tag.

The only drawback is that version suffers on the biggest stages.

Very identical to the PC version and it is visually highlights, music and art, also some locations and natural environments in great detail.

The expansion adds hours and a slightly higher difficulty.

Final Thoughts

Some criticized that the connection between story and gameplay is weak, which eventually can be too repetitive. The Talos Principle Deluxe Edition is what it is: a pure puzzle game that introduces no other mechanics other than new traps and devices. And that makes it great.

For the followers of the genre if you haven’t purchased it already, this is a must buy.

Good

  • Strong puzzle elements and fun to work you way around
  • Graphics are beautiful and nice soundtrack that completes the whole experience
  • Some good read about philosophy

Bad

  • Some hiccups in more complex scenes
  • Philosophy and Puzzles may not be entertaining for all

Amazing

As far as I can remember, I've been surrounded by technology. My father bought us a Commodore 64 so I started playing games as a baby, following my passion with Amiga 500, then PC and so on. I love game related collectibles, and when I'm not collecting I review games, watch movies and TV Shows or you may catch me keeping a low profile at Game Events.
