Titanfall Review

Spectacular, addictive, frantic and unpredictable... a new generation shooter without reinventing the genre yet feels fresh and original, and shows that developers can still innovate in multiplayer action.

A title that we found in the new generation playable but technically quite outdated and graphically improved, especially in the Xbox One, that to be a champion of the console, should have been much better aspects . Blames the graphics engine used, the Source, who has given us many joys with many titles in the past, since it must be Half-Life 2 to Left 4 Dead , but whose 10 years of life at this point is too noticeable, with some unalterable our actions scenarios without textures and graphic effects that surprise or they are what we expect from a game of new generation.

This is offset by a careful artistic design, with enough personality and a good use of color, with a list of maps that offer a variety of environments, the successful design of the Titans and the soldiers, and the fact put on display many elements simultaneously, achieving more than the feeling of being immersed in a conflict as epic as chaotic. PC without too many problems to achieve the 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second, this is a graphically resultón title, which although it is far from current technical references like Battlefield 4 , meets to spare on providing visuals service of its outstanding gameplay.

It is Xbox One where he has disappointed us most , not only for its resolution, finally the same as the beta, 792p, but what seems more serious, the difficulty that in many situations and circumstances to hold stable 60fps , even with small appearances of tearing . With such an old engine, and a resolution almost a generation ago, had hoped that at least 60fps impeccable at all times, but has obvious and relatively continuous descents. These are not serious enough to jeopardize the gameplay, but disfigure the experience in appearance and will take even more fuel to the heated debate on the technical power of Xbox One, questioned by several recent developments.

The sound does its function well, both as music effects and dubbing, putting your bit for the huge show in which we want to fully immerse. For example are very useful voice prompts that tell us the state of our Titan, without having to be paying attention to the display screen shield, and it shows that it is a very labor section, with little satisfactory that sounds like the actions we take. Our country comes with proper dubbing in Castilian , useful for not having to divert attention from the action reading subtitles on the screen.

New generation multiplayer action

If we think about what is essential in an action game, as his ability to entertain and keep us glued to the control for hours, thanks to a precise and reliable control, and some game mechanics as accessible as deep, Titanfall is sensational, and shows it was not necessary to reinvent the genre to offer something new, different and fresh. The arrival of a new generation of consoles is the right time to propose new ideas, advancing forward certain genres and launch new franchises. And in the four months that we have new generation Titanfall is the first that he has.

If this had also been accompanied by a graphic section that dazzle and a large number of game modes and options for the player, he had already been the bomb. But we want to assess what is really important in a game, his ability to entertain and engage, and each game is a different experience to the previous one, of those few games where you feel like telling “war stories” and prowess to friends. A shooter of reference for the coming months and possibly years, and if you like first multiplayer action, a little less than vital game.

Good

  • Level design is very good rather you're titan or on-foot soldier
  • Game mechanics are very well balanced, AI makes the maps live and full of action at all times
  • Great FPS experience, what fans have been craving for so long

Bad

  • No story mode is a bummer(not counting the campaign), at a $60 tag
  • Pilot selection screen could have customization
  • There a good number of maps but not so many game modes
8.5

Great

As far as I can remember, I've been surrounded by technology. My father bought us a Commodore 64 so I started playing games as a baby, following my passion with Amiga 500, then PC and so on. I love game related collectibles, and when I'm not collecting I review games, watch movies and TV Shows or you may catch me keeping a low profile at Game Events.
