Next-gen Tomb Raider
Graphically this is a quite remarkable game. While images, videos and even a first contact may seem that this is a game very similar to its predecessor, the truth is that there is a fairly remarkable leap, especially with regard to the modeling of characters, showing upgraded details such as the textures of their clothes or their hair.
Level designs have also been highly benefited with the generation gap, because as we say, now have gained in size, complexity and visual variety. Developers have managed to visit all places filled with highly differentiated and distinctive elements. Another aspect that has improved considerably is the lighting system, which combined with good art direction will bring very beautiful frames on you screen to remember.
The bad news is that although the game try to remain stable most of the time, in a particular area performance suffers very significantly, which is annoying. In the cut-scenes we have also detected frame drops and a couple of hiccups, but most of the time it is stable and will not ruin your gaming experience.
Finally, the Rise of the Tomb Raider has a good soundtrack and it does manage to fit perfectly the situations that you will experience.
Conclusions
Rise of the Tomb Raider is a great adventure that does not disappoint and gives us just what we want, a mix of very well balanced and executed game mechanics, resulting in a great fun game. If you liked and enjoyed the previous game, there is no reason that this sequel is not going to do the same, you will find the same formula that you enjoyed a couple of years ago, but much more polished and balanced. Prepare your ice axes, because Miss Croft adventures are far from over with titles like this we can only celebrate it in style.
