Street Fighter V Review

The legendary Capcom franchise returns stronger than ever with a successful new model that will keep us busy fighting to get to the top for years.

The biggest problem is the number of fighters could be more at launch,  we start with 16 fighters, although, as we say, considering how distinct they are in the end it feels like a respectable and capable figure to provide many hours of fun. In addition, this year six fighters will be added (Alex will be the first becoming the next month) which can be get for free with the in-game currency you earn by playing, a policy that will continue over the coming years.

Continuing with news of this release,  the bar has been removed by the Revenge of V-Gauge. Like the first, this meter is recharged when received a shock, although depending on the character portions have roughly to fill. Each serving will allow you to make the V-Reversal of your character, a counter with to get rid of the offensive rival and escape from sticky situations.

Moreover, if you have the V-Gauge full you can activate the V-Trigger of your character, a special action ranging from a fighter to another. Most often, usually that enhances you giving them a particular element (fire, lightning, poison, etc.) for a few seconds movements, but also you will find things as disparate as another character appears for an attack.

Finally, now you will have V-Skills, personalized movement that you can use whenever you want (no power of any meter) and radically changes from one character to another and may in certain cases to modify its use of various forms other than to confuse the opponent. To run this ability simply you have to press the middle punch and kick half at a time, allowing you to do things like stops, returns projectile, uppercuts, feints or to give a speech with a microphone to empower. As mentioned, every fighter has his own master their V-Skills which will be crucial to learn how to make the most of our favorite characters.

You will also notice that now the fighting have a greater and more hectic , rewarding yourself much more than in other deliveries going on the offensive (if we attack head-on, of course) and playing “nice” and that having many moves and choices each character is very easy to learn patterns of attack and counter techniques such as indiscriminate firing of projectiles.

Not enough content from the beginning

Probably the biggest disappointment lies in its alarming shortage of initial content. Yes, we know that in the coming months and years they’ll be adding new game modes, but from day one the offer is insufficient, especially if you want to take advantage of the title playing solo.

Single Player, you only find out the prolog of History, Survival and Training Mode. In story mode you pass a series of three or four extremely easy fights without any difficulty with each character to understand their motivations through a series of video scenes made with static artwork. It is perfectly possible to finish this mode in just a couple of hours and its main attraction lies in unlocking costumes in game store, although this is still not set, so we’ll have to wait until next month to acquire as much as we complete it now.

Good

  • Spectacular graphics and great mixture of soundtrack
  • Variety of Fighters carefully balanced with strength and weaknesses
  • Gameplay mechanics are revamped to perfection
  • Online mode will be promising.

Bad

  • Lack of content for Single Player

Amazing

As far as I can remember, I've been surrounded by technology. My father bought us a Commodore 64 so I started playing games as a baby, following my passion with Amiga 500, then PC and so on. I love game related collectibles, and when I'm not collecting I review games, watch movies and TV Shows or you may catch me keeping a low profile at Game Events.
