The Division Review

Ubisoft offers gamers an action adventure RPG takes place in an open developing world. The Divison is one of the most exciting and attractive game we have played so far in this generation.

The most interesting thing about the Dark Zone is that the loot you collect are contaminated, and can’t be used. You have to go to an extraction point and call a helicopter to come and pick them up, and then they appear usable in our stash. While this process the other players will get alerted, and they may decide to go to the extraction point to place their belongings on the helicopter along with yours, or betray other players and try to steal their loot. In the dark zone death has a price, because when we got killed we lose experience points, and can get demoted.

All these so ingenious ideas combined together is what makes this game unique because every time you get into the Dark Zone,  you can expect a different adventure, you never know what you will find. Anyone seems like an ally may betray you at the last moment, before entering the dark zone you should form a trustable group of strangers or with a group of friends. The Dark Zone generates short stories and adventures, which extend the life of the game a lot, being one of the most ingenious ideas so far this generation.

Ubisoft recently announced, that The Division’s season pass has plenty of content that will last for at least one year, free daily challenges, weekly and even raids missions, and dungeons that will become available in April and May plus 3 DLC packs. Now once you’ve finished all story missions and has reached the highest level 30, there are too many interesting things to do, although reaching level 30 will take to you 30 or 35 hours at least, and also a harder difficulty setting unlocks in some missions, level 30 player only. The Division has about 35-40 hours solo only missions alone, which justifies it’s price tag.

Graphics and Sound

The Division is not like that trailer we saw back at E3 2013, yet the game looks really good, the very best we’ve seen so far on the consoles, taking into account the scale of what it offers. The Division totally feels like a game of new generation, as is the fact that you can explore the entire city, enter houses, buildings, and even access the scenarios where the story missions are developed, and there are almost no loading screens.

The matchmaking works well, and comfortable to join the games of other players and create groups, and details like members of a squad can explore with complete freedom the huge map without the group disconnects, the online experience is very strong, stronger than what you may expect from a next-gen game.

There are sometimes minor issues such as lag between your shots and how are the enemies dropping dead a few seconds later or enemies suddenly teleports. But hopefully, these issues get fixed with future updates.

Good

  • Great setting where it takes you to a post-pandemic world
  • Whether you play story or Dark Zone, co-op is easy to access
  • Minimum to none loading times!
  • Perfectly crafted progression system
  • Each time you enter the Dark Zone, you will experience unforgettable moments.

Bad

  • Some minor lag due to always online nature, but overall it's pretty stable
9.5

Amazing

As far as I can remember, I've been surrounded by technology. My father bought us a Commodore 64 so I started playing games as a baby, following my passion with Amiga 500, then PC and so on. I love game related collectibles, and when I'm not collecting I review games, watch movies and TV Shows or you may catch me keeping a low profile at Game Events.
