Titanfall Review

Spectacular, addictive, frantic and unpredictable... a new generation shooter without reinventing the genre yet feels fresh and original, and shows that developers can still innovate in multiplayer action.

As you see there is not much-about 30- weapons, grenades and types-or-four mines, and the skills and perks that we can equip both side of the pilots and the Titans are not too varied and numerous, it is one game that focuses on little content but well made , which all make sense, are distinct, and never unbalanced games. The 15 maps seem a good number, plus these are very distinct, and have an excellent design. In a game in which climbing skills allow us plenty of freedom of movement, have achieved that despite the huge amount of routes and crannies that we have to move, do not spend too long without meeting someone, items for up to 12 players, something very meritorious.

There are endless statistics, the most complete we’ve seen in shooter any, is full of challenges, and character progression we like a lot, has good pace and every bit unblock new things that we want to try and experiment. Such as the letters a single use item and give us all kinds of benefits while remaining alive, special skills or equipment, a very original way to replace the hackneyed gusts of casualties. They have also taken into account dedicated players with 10 levels of prestige , so no game for a while if you want to squeeze. It is in the amount of game modes, five, where their term life causes us more questions .

The star is undoubtedly so wear – Attrition in English, the only one in which all prey and each game features, in which everything is important and therefore is the most complete, as if all the gameplay he had designed with this mode in mind. They compete in two teams of six players each and the goal is to reach 250 points. Grunts kill and Spectres, the two types of minions, the facile AI controlled soldiers, awarded one point, killing a pilot, a player, rewards us with four points, and finish with a Titan gives us five points. Upon reaching 250 points the epilogue begins with the losing team had to flee to escape pod, and the victor in charge of hunting them, something that does not change the sign of the game, but it serves to get some points extra experience. A novel and which also appears in the other game modes feature.

Then the second most important way could be considered strongholds Domain – Hardpoint Domination-, the classic way in which domain there are three points on the map, teams are fighting to conquer and stay as long as possible with them, reaching 400 points. It is in this way almost better than any other where we check the excellent design of the maps, and even use some of its elements such as zip lines that allow us to move faster to remote areas of the map.We also have the classic Capture the Flag , where parkour wins a major role to the detriment of the Titans, also happens in Domain fortines-, Cazapilotos , in which the team that gets the first 50 points only -pilotos- killing players, and last standing Titan , which pits two teams assembled from the beginning of the game in the Titans, winning the team that can defeat all rivals Titans, whether it is a standing pilot.

Five game modes know little , especially if we consider that we can not make you customize or private games -and even less in LAN-. Do not leave us in any way establish our own rules or play casually with a group of friends, we end up fixing something later or earlier by an update. So far this immediately discards for eSports, something that has not been a priority at any time during development to Respawn Entertainment, curiously when eSports itself have been interested even before its release by Titanfall.

Good

  • Level design is very good rather you're titan or on-foot soldier
  • Game mechanics are very well balanced, AI makes the maps live and full of action at all times
  • Great FPS experience, what fans have been craving for so long

Bad

  • No story mode is a bummer(not counting the campaign), at a $60 tag
  • Pilot selection screen could have customization
  • There a good number of maps but not so many game modes
8.5

Great

As far as I can remember, I've been surrounded by technology. My father bought us a Commodore 64 so I started playing games as a baby, following my passion with Amiga 500, then PC and so on. I love game related collectibles, and when I'm not collecting I review games, watch movies and TV Shows or you may catch me keeping a low profile at Game Events.
