The Last Of Us Review

Joel and Ellie survive the high expectations placed on them and Naughty Dog offers one of the best games of recent years.

The Last of Us does not contain complex puzzles, rather it is finding ladders, planks or tables to reach a certain place, and although it is an aspect that could be expanded in hypothetical sequels, luckily it’s not a game that entertains us so artificial -back his steps to find a key, for example.

The stealth is more than optional. Not mandatory, but strongly recommended since the highest amount of accumulated ammunition for weapons usually around twelve bullets, which brings us back to the truesurvival horror . Even if our aim is excellent, throwing the head is very difficult, and that means at least a couple of shots by the enemy; if an area has half a dozen opponents, under no circumstances we risk depleting the small arsenal.

The Last of Us there is always the flexibility to address each situation as we want , but the management of resources is a further major issue that we must always consider, without obsessing, but without forgetting it. Clean an area around the equipment pumps and cartridges is saved bread for that area and hungry for the next, where and yes we would be forced stealth, hence the strategy will be measured over time.

We deepened enough in the game system in prints, but we will focus on some aspects that we could not see in the demo. One is the variety of enemies in the game , each with different attack strategies and intelligence. Soldiers and security forces are human well protected by bulletproof vests and long-range weapons such as rifles.

They are the most similar to the type of enemy we would find in action games in the third person, except that in this case Joel can not match his attack and is unable to look face to face with an enemy of this type to a group -¡imagina well organized! -. With them the best tactic is the chance to use not so much coverage to shoot, but to make detours and find other routes or kill them one by one breaking necks. A lesson to learn on the fly in The Last of Us is that it is not necessary to kill all the enemies ; rarely is required to overcome the area, and in many cases go unnoticed is the best solution: minimal risk to health or expenditure of resources.

There are other human enemy much larger than before, the bullies. Their weaponry is more rudimentary than the soldiers is improving as we go though the game-, so use small-caliber pistols or blunt weapons, which, within the bad, is affordable for Joel. With them we can implement thenew fighting system -regarding Uncharted-, using human shields and risk a little more than other rivals.

Of course, the damage of all weapons is high and they lack few shots to liquidate Joel, so should not face more than two simultaneously. Also, as the military, tactical know tracking, and although it is relatively easy to get lost our trail, immediately get to patrol the area, quite possibly they find us again. Its artificial intelligence is very advanced compared to a pure action game: get nervous when they see us pull a gun, found the bodies of his companions and put alert, communicate to other’s that somethings not right – changing their location and their routes which are unpredictable and different each time when seareching an area, look in every corner.

Amazing

As far as I can remember, I've been surrounded by technology. My father bought us a Commodore 64 so I started playing games as a baby, following my passion with Amiga 500, then PC and so on. I love game related collectibles, and when I'm not collecting I review games, watch movies and TV Shows or you may catch me keeping a low profile at Game Events.
